Copacabana

For travellers, Copacabana is a refreshing stop between Cuzco and La Paz.

COPACABANA, BOLIVIA

ACCOMMODATION

Hotel Rosario Del Lago
Hotel Rosario Del Lago has an ideal location on the bay with inviting places for lounging and eating with outstanding views of Lake Titicaca while at the same time offering an easy stroll to discover the rest of the small town. Rooms range from standard to family-style and even a “cabin” in the garden. We had a “suite” which was accessed by a spiral staircase near the reception desk. It was sparkling clean, very well appointed and had stunning views from all three main rooms, one ensuite bathroom and another bathroom. The price was slightly less than two standard rooms and allowed us to enjoy some family time in the privacy of our own room. Highly recommend.

ARRANGEMENTS

Hotel: Made reservation directly with Hotel Rosario in La Paz through email for accommodations in La Paz and Copacabana (Del Lago) . Contact person was Ana Maria Limachi (she was most helpful) at reseras@hotelrosario.com . All went well.

Tours: We did a self guided tour of Copacabana on foot. It is not a big place and we felt comfortable “wandering around”.

FOOD & DRINK IN COPACABANA

BREAKFAST buffet at the hotel was filling with breads, pastries, meats, cheeses, cereals, fruits, juices, teas and coffee.

LATE LUNCH was had at the Hotel Rosario. Sherrie had been looking forward to Lake Titicaca trout while enjoying the lake view … she was not disappointed and the others enjoyed their selections.

PLACES TO GO IN COPACABANA

The Basilica is dedicated to the patron saint of Bolivia. This site, once an Inca Temple of the Sun, remains of importance to the indigenous peoples and Catholics alike.

There are a number of attractions to see within hiking or boating distance of town, most notably the pilgrimage site on El Calvario and the sacred Isla del Sol in Lake Titicaca.

We chose to stay and stroll.

TO & FROM COPACABANA

From Puno, Peru to Copacabana, Bolivia by TourPeru bus.

From Copacabana to La Paz by Turisbus van bus. It is a partner company with Hotel Rosario and arrangements were made along with accommodations. Turisbus picked us up at the hotel and delivered us to the front door of Hotel Rosario in La Paz with one stop at a viewpoint overlooking La Paz. It was higher in price than local buses.
